A hot mess with a dull knife!

{Loud noises in my garage}

Jr. Kakes and I look at one another, "what was that?!"
So, I walked to the garage door, and knock on it. (Yes, I understand this is dumb, because I know dang good and well, that if someone had knocked back, I would have pooed my pants!!)
And Jr. Kakes starts laughing at me.
REAL CONFIDENCE BOOST THERE BUDDY, THANKS! ;)

I run off, in my house boots, bed head, christmas pjs, and hoodie to grab a butcher knife.
Keep in mind, my "butcher knife" can hardly cut a strawberry, let alone "kill" someone! Psht.

But I grabbed one, and Jr. Kakes is looking at me with "Mental Hospital Admittance" in his eyes, while trying to choke back laughter.

This kid is FULL of trust. hahaha.

And I shush him and push him behind me, and then I slowly unlock the garage door, grab the handle, and Bam! Swing it open, Knife first of course, and then some brief shrieking...

IT. WAS. A. CAT.

You have GOT to be kidding me.

But the fun didn't stop there. Oh no buddy, never a dull moment here.

So at this point Jr. Kakes is laughing hysterically {again with the support- although he is 6, what can I say}
And I run around the car and check behind all of the seats... and Jr. Kakes is just standing there gawking at me and telling me over and over again "IT'S JUST A CAT MOMMY"...

And so, there we are, A hot mess with a dull knife.

That was an exciting morning.

And the car went EEEEEKKKK!!!!!!!!

Today was a marvelous day!

Got a couple of pictures of Robert De Niro, was almost plowed into by John Travolta, and green spaghetti and cheese on the menu.

Wait, I'm sorry.

You need me to back up, right?

Thought so!

Ok, so Robert De Niro and John Travolta were in town this weekend shooting some scenes, where I work, for a movie called "Killing Season" set to debut in 2014. Well.... You see, I got all dolled up and camera ready, and did you know, I wasn't needed?! Poo.

But anyways, I showed up Saturday morning, unaware of the "Menses" being around.

Complete shock to me to have to get security clearance to groom a donkey.

I won't bore you with the details.

Trucks, trailers, SUVS, RVS (Jt's) and police scattered about.

YES. I did feel high and mighty to be allowed in.... even if it was to just brush a dirty donkey ;)

I was able to snap a few shots, then was quickly told to DELETE them. HAHA. CLassic.

So, I knew today was the day for filming. And of course, knowing I wouldn't be permitted to play, I showed up anyways just to "check in on my menses"

Waited and waited, and nothing. Just some fancy food, co-workers, and delta security guards. {I can't help but say: SAHCUUUR-ITEE-- SAHCUUUR-ITEE}

hahaha. ANYWHO.

On my way BACK to the place of filimg, PINE MOUNTAIN GOLD MUSEUM!!!, I was coming around a sharp turn when all of a sudden there is John Travolta's RV. I had to hit the brakes and swerve. Luckily the driver, whom I assume isn't used to driving these hur backwoods roads, hahaha, but he just waved and smiled. Is it bad that I kind of wished we swiped just a tad, enough to stop and get out!? ;) hahaha.

I snapped a few shots of Mr. De Niro-- but he is sneaky and covered up in a few layers. But I know it was you mister! Don't hide! ;)
Needless to say, Kuppy Kakes will be making their celebrity appreance at a later time. :(

Anywhoodles, that's my story.

Now, tonight my son chose Green Eggs and Ham for our themed dinner. Well super forgetful mommy forgot to buy extra egss and I only had 6. I had to make spaghetti and cheese, no way I could make that PLUS eggs. So, he agreed to have GREEN spaghetti and cheese.

BEST. BATCH. EVER. Might make it green more often!

Spaghetti-n-Cheese
Parker Family Staple

Ingredients:
1 lb. of angel hair pasta
10 eggs; beaten
1-2 cups of whole milk
salt, pepper, and white pepper to tasta
1- 16 oz block of sharp cheddar cheese; sliced thin
2 cups of sharp cheddar cheese; shredded

Directions:
Boil pasta until Al Dente- 7 min.
Then whisk eggs and milk together- add salt and peppers
Spray a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
Drain pasta and place into baking dish, take 1 cup of shredded cheese and sprinkle on top, take your hands and just quickly (because pasta will be hot) mix it up and work it in. Next pour egg mixture over the pasta. Make sure it is in an even layer in dish. Place sliced cheese on top, then take the other cup of shredded cheese and top. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 min- or until egg is white and cheese is melted and lightly browned.
Green food dye is optional. :)

Enjoy!

Off to beddy bye!

Happy "Lots o'love and choking on lots'o chocolates" Day!

Happy BIG RED HEART Day!

We have started a new tradition in our home on V-DAY.

One of us, Kuppy or Mr. Kakes, will make a big dinner and decorate in our own style. This year, the first year, I started it.

I forgot to snap a pic of the feast on the table, which is kewl, I wouldn't want to see the way we eat.
Me and my mini kake went to the store in hopes to not go crazy and blow our entire grocery budget on one meal. With that being said, I literally spent $90.00 on one meal & decorations.

My Mini, she gets carried away with her decorations! ;)

When we got to the house, Daddy was home, rut roh. Turns out he had to work that night.....Bleh. Buttface.
We decorated the table real quick and I cooked dinner.

On the menu:
mini kakes: dino nuggets, tater tots, broccoli, and whatever they chose from "the platter".
kuppy & mr kakes:
Shrimp cocktail
Cooked seasoned shrimp {cayenne, chili powder, garlic, onion, white pepper, black pepper}
Crab Legs
Steamed fresh broccoli
Baked potatoes {which sat in the oven the entire time we ate dinner and were promptly thrown out}
AND our assortment of goodies.

BIG MISTAKE.

I bought a cheap little plastic red 5 slot serving tray.........

and proceeded to fil it full of the crap I hide away from my children. Call it a momentary loss of sanity.

We had Riesens, DOTS, Flipz {chocolate covered pretzels}, Fudge candy hearts and crispy candy hearts.
AND an entire container of assorted valentines butter cookies.

I.N.S.A.N.E.

BUT YUMMY.

What are your plans for this Hallmark Holiday?

Since the mini mr kakes is at school, mini kakes and I, made lunch.

We decided to ditch the gooey hearts and make Octopus hotdogs and Seaweed Pasta.

And it is also super easy and fun for the kids to help with.

Just start 1 in from top of dog and make 4 slits around, creating 8 legs.
Then boil and place atop a bed of garden delight fettucine {seaweed} and your done!

Love- Kuppy

I'm Late, I'm Late, for a very important....

Last night our themed dinner and book was "Me With You", and in the book, they had pie. So, for dinner we had chicken pot pie and apple and cherry pies for dessert.

I LOVE themed dinners with my kids. If you haven't tried one, do it. TODAY.

NOW.

Ok, I won't be so gruff. But tomorrow, please? ;)

It really is easy, you let your child pick out a book of their own, and you comb through to see if they had a meal within it.
IF NOT, Go off of the books theme and create a meal. If it does, Make that.

EX: Stone Soup: easy; soup

EX: Dora's First Day of school; they had boxed lunches so you could do that, or make a latin american dish. :)

Decorate accordingly, if budget allows, mine usually doesnt.
BUT I usually decorate with stickers, construction paper, and what nots.

Our very first one we did was "Alice In Wonderland".

I have included photos below, but I will explain. My daughter chose this book, and of course I combed through it and in the book the meal was soup.
We made Pasta Fagioli soup. "Souper" easy recipe; also included!

For our tablescape, I decorated the table with a newspaper tablecloth, and set the serving plates and cake dishes onto tissue paper squares in the center. You know, to add color! I purchased a $5.00 plastic tea set from Wal-mart and had my kids paint their own cups and plates.

Then I had Ky make "blue tea" for the tea party. (pink lemonade with blue coloring) and we put a "Drink Me" sign around the container.
We also made mini cupcakes with pink and purple striped frosting; for the Chesire cat.
Then we took construction paper and made "Mad Hatter" hats. Which by the way was completely silly looking, but it was supposed to be.
Mine may or may not have had feathers. ;)

So we served the soup in bright colored plastic sundae dishes and we set it up with conversation hearts around.

I found a conversation heart that read: MAD 4 U! Yes, I am stoked about this. My kdis wanted the whole "Eat Me" cookies, but yeah, I wasn't about to have my 4 & 6 year old going aroudn saying "Eat Me"! hahah.

OH OH! I ALMOST FORGOT; in the book there were critters at the table. Funny thing, I was snapping a photo of the table and I looke dback into my camera and SURPRISE! There was a critter; hahaha. So, Little Binx got in on it, for a smidge.

SIMPLE THINGS.

Recipe: Pasta E Fagioli Soup adapted by Rachael Ray

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons (2 turns around the pan) extra-virgin olive oil
1/8 pound (about 3 slices) pancetta, chopped
2 (4 to 6-inch) sprigs rosemary, left intact
1 (4 to 6-inch) sprig thyme with several sprigs on it, left intact
1 large fresh bay leaf or 2 dried bay leaves
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 small carrot, finely chopped
1 rib celery, finely chopped
4 large cloves garlic, chopped
Coarse salt and pepper
2 (15 ounce) cans cannellini beans
1 cup canned tomato sauce or canned crushed tomatoes
2 cups water
1 quart chicken stock
1 1/2 cups ditalini
Grated Parmigiano or Romano, for the table
Crusty bread, for mopping

Directions:
Heat a deep pot over medium high heat and add oil and pancetta. Brown the pancetta bits lightly, and add herb stems, bay leaf, chopped vegetables, and garlic. Season vegetables with salt and pepper. Add beans, tomato sauce, water, and stock to pot and raise heat to high. Bring soup to a rapid boil and add pasta. Reduce heat to medium and cook soup, stirring occasionally, 6 to 8 minutes or until pasta is cooked al dente. Rosemary and thyme leaves will separate from stems as soup cooks. Remove herb stems and bay leaf from soup and place pot on table on a trivet. Let soup rest and begin to cool for a few minutes. Ladle soup into bowls and top with lots of grated cheese. Pass crusty bread for bowl mopping.

I'm Late, I'm Late, for a very important date!

So I sat down and made a list of fun things I would like to incorporate in our every day life. I have noticed here lately, and lately I mean for off and on about a year, that we are just not as fun anymore. Aww Poo. And one of the itens on the list was to have a themed dinner once a week. One of my children, whichever one bribed me with enough cookies, gets to pick a favorite book. We would go though the book and figure dout what was eaten or create a meal from the book. {Ex: book: stone soup; food- soup} My sweet baby girl, who is the youngest, gets to go first. And her book was Alice In Wonderland. Ok. Now, I by NO MEANS are crafty. I have hardly any crafting skills or money..... In about an hours time, I bought some construction paper, soem stickers, cupake mix GASP!, canned frosting GASP! GASP!, a mini tea set, and some conversation hearts. WHICH by the way, completely fell in love with them because I FOUND one that read MAD 4 U! Mad hatters tea party- get it. HA! Sorry I will crawl back into my cage. :) Anywho, we threw together some mad hats, painted out mini tea cups, made a fabulous table setting out of newspaper and tissue paper, grabbed some cake stands, made mini cupcakes, monkey bread, soup, blue "tea" lemonade, and away we went! We had so much, I HIGHLY recommend it. Here are some pics, because who wouldn't want to see chaos running amuck! Kuppy
